Instant_Shiitake_800x533pxWe are excited to announce that FOUR SIGMA FOODS (FSF) have added two exciting new additions to their Instant Medicinal Mushrooms range: Maitake and Shiitake.

After December’s hedonistic festivities, these couldn’t have come at a better time. In fact the Maitake mushrooms are known for their blood sugar balancing and slimming effect, while the Shiitake mushrooms are great for skin. As we detox our way throughout January, we will certainly be incorporating these into our health and fitness regime!

THE BRAND – For those of you who are not yet familiar with FSF, this clever range of beverages can help restore your health by increasing energy levels, thanks to the active components found in their medicinal mushrooms. We think they are the ideal way to get a little ‘preventative medicine’ into your day!  Also, think of it as caffeine-free healthy-hits. FSF have successfully introduced the world’s oldest and time tested solutions to the modern public, with an urban and dynamic lifestyle product. All their drinks are delicious and caffeine-free, easy-to-use, tasty and definitely effective!

THE INGREDIENTS – All products are vegan and contain no preservatives or artificial flavours. Ingredients are naturally farmed or wild-crafted. Also, the active components of the medicinal mushrooms are made bio-available via a state-of-the-art dual extraction process, which is why you will feel FSF products kicking in, in a natural and balanced way. Let’s take a look at the two new variations and try them in our recipes…..

MAITAKE – Maitake is a gourmét mushroom, also valued for its fantastic medicinal properties which include: abilities to balance blood-sugar levels, strengthen digestion and to increase insulin production. For that reason, it can be of great help for diabetics and those in weight management programs.

Maitake is the active ingredient in the drink, which also includes Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum): a sacred herb in Ayurveda that promotes healthy bacterial growth; ginger, which helps with bloating and vitamin C from rose hip to increase the assimilation of all the goodies. A true force of nature!

SHIITAKE – As one of the most popular edible mushrooms in the world, it is not only delicious, but it is also a proper ‘beauty’ food, with a host of great health benefits. In Asia, it has been used for thousands of years to heal the skin, support the liver, enliven the blood, and boost Qi (meaning ‘life force’). It is a great natural booster for detoxing.

Additional herbs include Schisandra – also known as the number one beauty herb in Asia- and dandelion, which supports clean and glowing skin. Rose hip provides vitamin C, which multiplies the bioavailability of all the active ingredients. Basically, Shiitake is a pretty complete food by containing all the essential amino acids and loads of minerals.
