CONTENT WORLD

READA while back we expressed our love for ‘Letters Of Note’ – a curated collection of letters featuring an archive of beautifully handwritten notes that transported us back to a time before bills and bank statements made for the only form of ‘mail’ to populate our letter-boxes. Intercepted by the same creator, recently we can’t get enough of List Of Note, a collection of ‘lists’ chronicling one of the most defining practise of human kind – list writing. Featuring a collection of 125 of the world’s most fascinating lists, here are a few of our favourites…

  • The very list that inspired ‘List Of Note’s’ creation, this handwritten to-do list by Johnny Cash features 10 ‘Things to do today’ that reads like a conversational dialogue between his pen, paper and mind.
  • We’re big fans of the Great Gatsby so when we stumbled across this letter from its renowned author F. Scott Fitzgerald we just had to share it with you. Addressed to his 11 year old daughter, Fitzgerald’s letter is comprised of 3 endearing lists; ‘Things to worry about’, ‘Things not to worry about’ and ‘Things to think about’ featuring all things a girl on the verge of teenage-hood should know.
  • Founded in the 1920’s, The Anti Flirt Club was created by Alice Reighly to protect women from the embarrassment of car-cat-calls. We love the clubs list of rules’ that offers practical advice on how to, or how to not respond in the instance of an unwarranted flirt!
  • We love author Henry Millers list of 11 commandments featuring some useful pointers we could all adopt in our day-to-day lives. With an emphasis on living in the present moment, these two points particularly resonated with us.. “Dont be nervous, work calmly, joyously, recklessly on whatever is in hand.” “Forget the books you want to write. Think only of the book you are writing.”
  • If you’re a Nick Cave lover like us, you’ll know that each and every one of his songs is as descriptively articulate as the next. So how does a lyricist procure such an exceptional vocabulary? By keeping a handwritten dictionary of course! Featuring a list of his favourite words, we’ve been delightfully intrigued by Nick Caves most invaluable tool.

CREATE – Experiencing a rise in popularity in France, colouring-in for adults is now being used as a calming activity to tackle stress and anxiety. Still not convinced? millie marotta 2WEAR – Whilst Swedish fashion house H&M have been embracing environmentally friendly production methods for a while now, last week the brand launched their first ethical denim collection, Conscious, featuring a range of classic denim shirts, high waisted, skinny and boyfriend jeans and an indigo jumpsuit we can’t wait to get our hands on – all manufactured with low energy consumption and minimal water waste. www.hm.com
