Content Winter Warmer Vanilla Smoothie Recipe

FOOD-Winter SmoothieWe do love a smoothie to start off the day, but on cold winter mornings we wouldn’t mind swapping it for something warm. So why not combine the two? When you feel like having a smoothie, but are also craving something warm and toasty, this cross between porridge and a smoothie has become a favourite of ours. So much so we’ve had it 3 days in a row! Plus if you are running late – it’s just as nice cold.

INGREDIENTS:

1 – 1.5 cups of almond or coconut milk (if you like your smoothie quite thick, use 1 cup)
1 generous handful of mixed nuts – ideally soaked overnight (we use walnuts and almonds, but Brazil nuts are nice too)
2 tablespoon of Vanilla Sunwarrior – available here
1 tablespoons coconut oil – available here
1 – 2 tablespoons gluten free oats (depending on how thick you like it!)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon lacuma powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon cinnamon
A pinch of Himalayan salt

Optional:

1 heaped teaspoon of raw chocolate powder
A pinch of cayenne pepper to warm you up
1 date or ½ a banana if you need extra sweetness (if you don’t have protein powder to hand you can just sub for 1/2 a banana)

METHOD:

Warm the milk gently, while putting all other ingredients into your blender. Add warm milk to blender container. Blend until smooth and creamy. Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon and drink!
