Who doesn’t love a fragrant pile of freshly baked pancakes? We most certainly do! So to celebrate Pancake Day, we’ll be whipping up our favourite delicious recipe for breakfast to put a spring in our step!

We love coming up with new ways to use raw foods and superfoods, from organic turmeric as a natural face mask, to blending and mixing our products to suit our skins’ mood. This botanical alchemy approach also extends to the organic food and supplements we stock. This week we’ve been playing in the kitchen with alternative recipes for pancakes including a chocolate, banana version and a turmeric oat pancake recipe. Trust us – they are good, although maybe not the texture most pancake fans will be used to. If you’re a fellow clean-eating foodie, try the recipes below.

Chocolate Almond and Banana Pancakes

Serves 2

This is one for those with a sweet tooth. Although there is no refined sugar the banana gives sweetness and both the chocolate elements contain coconut sugar.

Ingredients:

Method:

Blend all ingredients together until a batter liquid texture. Warm some coconut oil in a pan and add spoonfuls of the batter. Flip when bubbles appear on the surface and cook the other side. We like to serve with berries and coconut yoghurt.

Turmeric, Coconut and Oat Pancakes

This recipe uses water as the liquid rather than milk. The water actually combines with WunderWorkshop Instantly Golden Turmeric Latte Powderwhich is made from a base of coconut powder to give the a pancakes a vibrant yellow colour – plus of course a dose of one of our favourite superfoods. Add the banana if you want them slightly sweetened, otherwise they are on the savoury side – and don’t taste of turmeric!

  1. Blend oats or flakes until ground to a fine flour consistency.
  2. Combine oat flour, salt, baking powder in a mixing bowl; mix well.
  3. Combine egg, water and vanilla in a small bowl and mix well.
  4. Mash the banana if using.
  5. Stir the liquid mixture into dry mixture a little at a time as you will be activating the WunderWorkshop Instantly Golden Turmeric Latte Powder
  6. Mix well and stir in the mashed banana if using. Allow to rest for five minutes.
  7. Heat a large pan on medium heat and add a little coconut oil to stop the pancakes from sticking.
  8. When hot, drop in spoonfuls or pour about ¼ a cup of the batter to make larger pancakes.
  9. Cook until bubbles form on surface of pancake. Turn over and cook until lightly browned.
