LEAVE-IN TREATMENTS

While shampooing and conditioning are ingrained in our hair beauty routine, leave-in treatments are often dumped onto the ‘not-sure-what-to-do-with-this’ shelf and abandoned or forgotten as a result.

But don’t give it up just yet: a good natural leave-in conditioner can do wonders for your hair’s condition. For instance, if you locks are still frizzy and dry after your shower, it can lock up extra moisture. If your hair is fine and often tangled, it can help detangle and remove residues that weigh it down. The key is finding the right one for you and your hair type! These are our to-go options:

  • We like to use the John Masters Citrus and Neroli Detangler and Rosemary and Peppermint Detangler either as conditioners or leave-in treatments. The Citrus and Neroli Detangler is best for dry hair,  while the Rosemary and Peppermint Detangler contains peppermint to balance oily scalps. We’re fans of the lightweight formulas, packed with organic wheat and soy proteins to strengthen follicles. They smell very uplifting too!
  • Intelligent Nutrients PureLuxe Conditioner: This protein-rich, multi-use conditioner works a treat on dry, colour-treated damaged hair. Packed with some of nature’s most powerful antioxidants like cranberry and red grape, we like to use it as weekly as a leave-in treatment to boost shine and also as a styling cream to protect from heat damage.
  • Intelligent Nutrients Leave-In Conditioner: If your hair is on the fine side and prone to fizz, you’ll love this treatment as it doesn’t weigh down hair! It’s also ideal on colour treated hair as the Intellimune oil helps rebuild hair strength from the inside. Ideal for styling blow dries or diffusing curls, or as mask.

Content Tip: Create your very own hydrating Content DIY hair mask by mixing the leave in-conditioner with a few fingers of Essence Of Eden Premium Virgin raw organic coconut oil. Massage on hair and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and revealing silky-smooth locks.

  • The Less is More Tangerine Curl Balm and Less is More Lavender Smooth Balm are not conditioners as such, rather some fantastic leave-in treatments, so apply these after conditioning hair. If you’re a curly head and looking for curl definition, apply a small quantity of the curl-defining Tangerine Curl Balm to damp hair before styling: it makes hair easier to comb and is a great heat styling protector. If your hair is thick or dry and you’re looking for a softening and straightening aid, use the Lavender Smooth Balm, which contains naturally smoothing kernel oil. If you’re partial to fragrant, floral aromas, enjoy the soothing essential oils fragrance of Bulgarian Lavender and Egyptian rose Geranium. It makes a great after-sun restoring product too.

HAIR MASKS

Between styling and environmental factors, we put our hair through a lot of strain daily! So take 15 minutes out of your weekly beauty routine to give your hair some TLC with one of our favourite masks to repair and hydrate hair.

  • Rahua Hair Mask Omega-9: We know a ‘quick fix’ when we see one. This is it! When our locks are feeling particularly ‘beaten up’, we like to use this ultra-conditioning treatment as it goes straight to the roots. The Ungurahua Oil, rich in omega 9, is made of tiny molecules that penetrate into the core of each strand to fortify hair. Plus it has a calming aromatherapeutic effect, thanks to in the Lavander and Eucalyptus scents.
  • John Masters Organics Dry Hair Nourishment and Defrizzer: This product has garnered a cult following amongst dry-hair beauties thanks to its restorative properties and excellent to split-ends combating abilities. Apply 1 to 3 drops into the palm of your hand and massage scalp to treat both scalp and hair. The rosemary, part of this organic blend, stimulates hair growth and adds volume and shine.

Content Tip: Want a deeper, more intensive treatment? Apply and massage half the bottle of the Dry Hair Nourishment and Defrizzer to wet hair and wrap in a warm towel, letting it rest for half an hour before rinsing. You can even mix it with a few drops of …

  1. John Masters 100% Argan Oil if you have dry hair: As far as softening hair goes, few things can beat Argan Oil. Heralded for its ability to retain moisture, tame fizziness and improve elasticity, it’s a must-have for hair. Ditto for skin! Apply to wet or dry locks and massage scalp.
  2. Less is More Organic Haircare Rose Serum if you have damaged, colour-treated hair: This restorative serum is great for problem scalps: the delicately scented Rose Damascea Oil is known for its harmonizing and rejuvenating properties. Combined with the Omega-3 and Omega-6 rich Rosehip oil and Vitamin E rich Jojoba oil, it will leave hair and scalp feeling hydrated and gently refreshed.
  3. John Masters Organics Honey and Hibiscus Reconstructor: Super intense and conditioning, this treatment brings back to life very damaged, colour-treated or dry hair. The moisturising Hibiscus helps maintain healthy scalp and the Cupuacu butter helps treat dry scalp conditions like eczema & psoriasis. Use as a conditioner or simply apply and leave on for up to 10-15 minutes on wet hair as a treatment before rinsing.
