Meanwhile, check out our interview with founder Zoe below and find out more about this exciting new wellbeing launch.

What inspired you to create Golden Mylk?
It was actually whilst travelling in Sri Lanka that I came across the concept for Golden Mylk®. It was offered to me to restore and heal my aching muscles after long yoga classes, and it worked a treat! I had always wanted to combine my knowledge of nutrition with my beliefs for health education and wellbeing, Golden Mylk® was a means to combine all of these. But I see it as just the beginning and we have a number of goals we want to achieve, thus the Wunder Workshop umbrella was born. This autumn we will launch a high quality organic Turmeric Powder which we have imported directly from the farm I visited in the heart of Sri Lanka. We are also launching a restorative dried Turmeric Tea, which the women at the farm in Sri Lanka have suggested to me as a great anti-inflammatory and relaxing drink.

What is a typical day in your life like?

Golden Mylk is a freshly made drink, which means it only has a shelf life of 4-5 days. Because of the short shelf life we spend many nights and early mornings “mylking” away in a commercial kitchen in West London. We first make our coconut milk, which when chilled we blend with our main ingredient turmeric and also dates, vanilla and a tiny bit of Himalaya salt and black pepper. As well as being stocked in a number of independent health food stores and in Selfridges in London we offer online deliveries, which means no week’s activity is the same. When we’re not mylking we are out and about meeting our amazing customers at London’s coolest yoga events, meditation sessions, sports events and at Content on the 10th. So it certainly isn’t dull!

What are the health benefits of your drink?

Turmeric is an ancient healing spice whose benefits have been known about for thousands of years, it contains curcumin which is the active ingredient for many of its health benefits. It only really seems to be breaking in to western society’s understanding of health now, even though there are over 4,600 published studies on its various health benefits! Curcumin is a powerful anti-oxidant, very anti-inflammatory, can prevent cancer and treat depression, few other molecules show such versatile healing properties.

Due to its potent anti-viral and anti-bacterial values it is widely used for unclear skin in India and Sri Lanka. The young women at the farm in Sri Lanka said how they not only drink it every night but also put the turmeric powder as a paste on their skin as part of their morning ritual to prevent any spots or treat acne.

The other main ingredient is our own blend of coconut milk. Coconut milk has an endless list of health benefits. It is a great source for Vitamin E, which is important for nourishing your skin and hair; it also contains Vitamin C, Calcium, and Iron, which all help to make your skin smooth and radiant. It improves the natural elasticity of the skin and thus decelerates premature ageing! Apart from your mother’s breast milk, coconut milk is one of the only good sources for Lauric acid, which is a medium-chain saturated fat which promotes high density lipoproteins that reduce your cholesterol levels. Lauric acid also has a host of other health benefits including being anti-fungal, anti-viral, immune system boosting properties and weight loss promoting. The list is endless but all in all coconut milk’s reservoir of antioxidants, minerals, electrolytes and vitamins aid the body in fighting aging, from the inside and outside.

What’s your top wellbeing tip for our readers?

Even though I am a health freak and believe food is functional and every meal is an opportunity to nourish your body. I however, foremost believe in the importance of the balance between mind, body and soul, and thus denying yourself things can be unhealthy too. I believe a healthy body also comes from a happy mind and allowing yourself to enjoy a glass of wine, some delicious potato fries and chocolate now and then is just as rewarding for the soul and body as a kale salad! Obviously, all in moderation 😉

I also start the day with my gratitude journal. I find it makes me much happier writing down what I am grateful for and I sit down for 5 minutes and do my daily affirmations. I leave my phone off until I have done those, showered and had breakfast. It gives me time to fully reflect on myself alone. No emails, social media, or friends and family that can disturb me.

Can you share a favourite Winter recipe with us using turmeric?

On a typical rainy and grey London day, I brighten up my mornings with overnight soaked oats, which I boil up with the contents of one bottle of Golden Mylk. Once done, I often add another teaspoon of coconut oil, cinnamon, and soaked almonds and pumpkin seeds. If it isn’t sweet enough, you can add some raisins or raw honey. It is the perfect wholesome, immune-boosting and warming start to a wintery day.
