HOW TO: PLAITED MESSY SIDE BUN

“Spring is finally here and the perfect season to start playing around with your hair. For Spring and Summer I love wearing my hair in messy buns or different types of plaits, so I’ve decided to cooperate them together in this how-to tutorial doing a plait with a messy side bun, which is great for medium to long hair. I cut my hair shorter earlier this year, but it’s finally grown out enough to be able to style in fun and cute up-dos again – and I can’t get enough of it!

The warmer months are a time when we put our hair up and want it out of the way, so why don’t we just have fun and look amazing at the same time? This style is one of my favourites as the moment as it can work anywhere: chilling in the park, going out in the evening or even for your summer holiday. Here’s my step by step tutorial and don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work out perfectly the first time. Practice makes perfect!

1. First, separate your hair in two and make a ponytail with the one part where you want your side bun.

2. Secondly, section your hair in three and start plaiting your hair. I’ve done a French plait, but feel free to play around with a different style of plaits.

3. Then, work yourself around the head to the back of your neck with the plait.

4. Join in the plait with the ponytail using a hair bobble.

5. Take smaller sections and start styling your bun. I like to roll them under and pin with a bobby pin.

6. Tidy up the bun and finish off your style. Be creative. It doesn’t matter if it’s messy, that’s the whole point!

7. Done – here is your braid with a messy side bun. Front and back.

Now it’s your turn. Have a go and remember to just have fun with it!
