We chatted to the founders about how they created the range…..
How did you come to create the INTENSAE range of 5-free nail lacquers?
James: My close friend was having her second course of IVF and decided to cut out all unnecessary toxins from everything especially her beauty products. At the time there was just one 3-free nail lacquer brand on the market and the formula wasn’t quite up to scratch. It became my mission to create a range of nail colours, formulated using the safest ingredients with pristine coverage and excellent wear time. My friend eventually fell pregnant and now has a very happy and healthy daughter. I was delighted when she asked me to be godfather.
Christian: My background is photography and graphic design, I wanted the look and feel of INTENSAE to be unique and modern, a bit sexier and grown-up compared with other nail polish brands on the market. My partner James and I chose an inspiring and powerful woman to reference each colour.
What inspires the colour selection for INTENSAE? Women are the ultimate inspiration for us. Each shade is inspired by an icon who has touched us is some way and if we can imagine her wearing INTENSAE then the process of creating a colour begins.
How do INTENSAE lacquers differ from others? Due to the high inclusion of saturated pigments INTENSAE provides excellent coverage and the consistency isn’t overly thick like other lacquers. The fluid consistency allows you to layer two varying shades if desired.
What are your must-have colours for Winter 2013? Stoker and 1966 are our newest shades and we’re obsessed.
Any tips for the perfect application? This is an excellent question! After applying the thinnest coat of Yüyi 2-in-1 Base and Top Coat apply 2 very thin layers of colour before adding a final layer of Yüyi to finish. Less is more with our products. Some people tell us they achieve perfect coverage using 1 coat, if this is the case then do not apply a second coat simply go over with a final layer of Yüyi. The wear time speaks for itself. If possible store your INTENSAE in the fridge and allow to stand at room temperature for 5-10 mins before use.
