Organic Make Up tips with Inika Mineral Make Up

As things are now hotting up this summer it is more important than ever to be taking care of your skin. Ditching the foundation for a lighter coverage that allows our skin to breath is ideal for a bare face summer look.

Inika mineral foundations are perfect for summer. Weightless light coverage using skin friendly minerals such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide mean you enjoy a natural SPF of 20 at the same time! The other main ingredient Inika use is Mica. This gives the skin a beautiful luminous sheen which is right on trend for the summer dewy look. To achieve flawless skin without looking or feeling like you are wearing anything follow these tips for organic make up application.

  1. Take a small amount of mineral foundation onto your kabuki brush, work the powder into the brush by pressing it into the lid of your foundation and the tap it on a hard surface before applying, this allows the powder to settle into the brush and makes it easy and mess free to apply.
  2. Buff onto your skin in circular motions until you achieve the coverage you want. Use a circular motion for more coverage and downward strokes for a lighter finish.
  3. To give a little extra glow to the skin take the Inika Illuminisor which is a soft highlighting powder and also buff over the most prominent points of your face, cheekbones, temples, nose and chin. You only need a small amount as a little goes a long way! Or if you prefer a cream highlighter use the Light Reflecting Highlighting Cream blending a little in the same areas.
  4. To complete your look, pick from one of the Inika Cosmetics four bronzing colours and apply also to your temples, nose and cheeks. Take a soft colour like our peach fetish mineral eyeshadow and press a small amount over the eye lid to open the eyes up. Then use your bronzer and brush over the eye socket to give you a really natural but finished look.

If you want to fit in with this summers bold eye look then take Inika organic eyeliner in peacock blue, draw over the entire lid and blend upwards into the socket, then take eternal marine mineral eyeshadow and press onto the lid, again blending into the eye socket. For maximum effect apply two coats of black mineral mascara to finish your organic make up look. Try one of the Inika Cosmetics Lipwhips for a quick slick of sheer colour and some extra hydration for the lips!

Hi, I think it is important to point out that minerals are not actually classified as organic and very few products in this range are in fact organic. The lip whip also contains honey so it also cannot be classified as vegan. Just thought you should know so that you are not misleading customers who really want to know what is in their make-up and want to lead a truly organic and vegan way of life. Merry Xmasxx

    Hi Anna
That is indeed very true! We have clearly labelled the non-vegan products on the website and of course list the ingreds so people can check for themselves. Your point about minerals is valid also in the same way that water cannot be classed as organic.
Inika have done a great job reformulating their liquids and even their pencils to be certified organic under OFC certification, but it can be a bit confusing when not all products in a range are certified. I think they are even reformulating the Lipwhips to be vegan for next year too. Fingers crossed!
To add to your comments the following items are certified organic under OFC:
    Lipwhips
    Light Reflect Highlighting Cream
    Eye Pencils
    Lip Pencils
    Brow Pencils
    Liquid Minerals
    Concealers
Of course if there is any doubt over ingredients we are always happy for customers to give us a call or drop us a line. If we don’t have information to hand we’ll find out!
Happy Christmas to you too and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
