Remember this name: KJAER WEIS. Or failing the spelling test and pronunciation – by the way, it’s ‘Keer’ (like deer) and ‘Wice’ (like mice) – remember the initials KW, because you are bound to hear more about this acclaimed organic and natural make up range in months to come. KJAER WEIS is now available instore (for those that like to try before they buy) and online in the UK from across the pond and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome it to CONTENT!
THE BRAND: KJAER WEIS is created by Danish-born, New York-based makeup artist Kirsten Kjær Weis. While working on shoots, Kirsten noticed something about every woman that sat in her makeup chair: they all had at least a few “conventional” makeup products they found irritating to the skin. “It made me think, if these products are causing short term effects like breakouts and rashes, then what would the long term effects look like? There had to be another choice.”When experimenting with natural alternatives, Kirsten found many of the natural makeup products couldn’t achieve the same results as their chemical-laden, traditional counterparts. There seemed to be no middle ground between the two in the cosmetics marketplace, so 8 years ago, Kirsten decided to bridge the gap and develop the range to fulfill the demand for high-performance colour cosmetics that were made with the highest quality natural and organic ingredients, all without compromising luxury or contemporary design. After extensive research, Kirsten partnered with an Italian manufacturer that exclusively used natural ingredients and to this day she personally inspects and supervises each batch of product. She says: “this is as close to hand-made product as you can get”.
WE LOVE: Firstly, all products are made using the high quality natural ingredients with organic certification where possible. All raw substances and natural preservatives have been extracted from minerals, plants and wildflowers specifically chosen for their colour, scent and affinity with the skin.
Secondly, Kirsten’s make-up expert touch is evident the tightly edited range: the beautifully coloured eyeshadows are highly pigmented, seriously long-lasting and don’t crease, whereas the foundations have an incredibly natural and lightweight finish and feel like a second skin. The cream blushers are also seriously flattering. To top it off, the jewellery-like, show-stopping packaging has that luxury-feel that we love, with a bonus – all compacts including the Mascara, are refillable. Smart!
HOW TO USE:
- Apply the KJAER WEIS Cream Foundation by hand or with the KJAER WEIS Cream Foundation brush. There are five different shades of foundation to suit your skin tone.
- Apply the KJAER WEIS Eye Shadow with a brush. The colour palette of nine shades is bang on-trend and thanks to the silky texture, they blend and build up easily. Dampen a brush slightly with water to intensify the colour. To create the effect of a soft eyeliner, dampen an eyeliner brush with water and apply along the lash line. Finally, apply the organic KJAER WEIS Mascara for extra long lashes.
- Move on to the cheeks. The KJAER WEIS Cream Blush goes on beautifully when applied with the fingers, especially gently dabbed on the apple of the cheek. It leaves the wearer with a fresh-faced, “just back from a jog” look. The cream blush can also be applied with a large (artificial hair) brush, gently swept over the cheek area.
- Finish off with the KJAER WEIS Lip Tint. It goes on best when applied with the fingers, or for a more defined look, using the KJAER WEIS Lip Brush. It leaves the lips moisturized, with a modern, not-too-shiny finish. Go for the ‘Goddess’ to work this Winter’s berry lip trend, or choose ‘Bliss Full’ for an everyday easy look.
HERO PRODUCT: It’s hard to pick one, as anyone who has tried a selection from the entire will tell you. However, the KJAER WEIS Cream Foundation has been making serious waves amongst the industry, including the cult blog No More Dirty Looks. Thanks to its creamy compact formula, you can easily apply it with the swipe of a finger as well as with a brush. The KJAER WEIS Cream Foundation blends in seamlessly and provides a semi-matte coverage and a very au natural look, with a satin finish. As it is loaded with sweet almond seed, coconut oil and jojoba oils, it’s moisturizing without being greasy, so it works on more oily skin types too. Of course, the fact that it’s refillable is a big plus as you can top up without having to spend on packaging.
