A is for Antioxidants and B is for Black Rice Bran – one of our favourite super-foods for it’s amazing health promoting properties…
Black Rice Bran by Well Well Well Inc is rich in antioxidants, Vitamin E and essential dietary fibre, and is one of the best super-foods around. Black Rice, also known as purple rice or ‘forbidden rice,’ is a Chinese delicacy. Well Well Well Inc have provided it in its best form, as bran, containing the real concentration of nutrients- great for skin, hair and nail health. The rich black and purple colour of this bran is what gives it its superior anti-ageing health benefits – just one spoonful added to your daily porridge, smoothie or muesli contains more anthocyanin antioxidants than a spoonful of blueberries, but with less sugar. The high levels of Vitamin E, a potent antioxidant also helps to protect the skin against free-radical damage, maintaining healthy hair and skin. The added benefit of dietary fibre, both soluble and insoluble, can also assist in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, and stabilizing blood sugar, which can prevent sugar cravings.
A few of Content’s favourite ways to use Black Rice Bran:
- We like to stir into our morning porridge for an anti-oxidant boost and extra fibre and for its pretty purple colour. We also love quinoa porridge cooked with almond milk and finished with a sprinkling of our favourite seeds and a teaspoon of Black Rice Bran.
- It is perfect to add to smoothies – our favourite berrylicious smoothie recipe: 1 cup water, a handful of berries, 1tsp Raw Coconut Oil, 1tbsp hemp seeds, 1tbsp flax-seed, a handful of leafy greens, 1/2 avocado, 1tsp Black Rice Bran, 1tsp Acai and 1tsp Manuka Honey – blend and serve over ice.
- Try adding to our Raw Chocolate Brownie Recipe for its anti-oxidants benefits.
- Sprinkle or stir into non-dairy yoghurt for extra fibre to help keep you feeling fuller for longer – we like to mix with coconut yoghurt, chopped seasonal fruit, and sprinkle it with raw granola for the perfect breakfast that will keep you going until lunch-time.
Get creative and remeber it can be added to granola bars, raw desserts or your favourite healthy treat to boost anti-oxidants, add extra fibre and balance sugar levels in-between meals.
